Inmarsat – Service outage and degradation – EMEA

We would like to notify you of a full service outage and significant service degradation expected on Tuesday 27 July 2021.

L-Band services operating on Inmarsat’s EMEA satellite will be affected.

The degradation on EMEA has been traced to a specific signalling processing module and a high-level recovery approach has been planned by network engineers.

Inmarsat anticipate the following sequence of events on Tuesday 27 July:

10:00 UTC:

E&E services, including Inmarsat-C, will be moved from EMEA to the contingency configuration on adjacent satellites.

12:00 – 17:00 UTC:

The payload reconfiguration action will begin. The EMEA satellite will remain in operation during this activity, however end-users can expect significant service degradation and potentially full service outages during this window.

Once the recovery work has concluded, a reload of the satellite filter configuration will be performed which will cause a full service outage on EMEA for approximately 1 hour.

When the EMEA satellite is fully operational, E&E service configuration will be normalised.

Timings and durations are best estimates from Inmarsat and are subject to change. Further alert notifications will be provided.
